Planning Your Dream Grad...

Having questions about graduation? Well look no further readers! With the help from past graduates we've created a post that will hopefully cover any concerns you might have.

Q: I'm saving my money for my plans for next year- How can I still have my perfect grad outfit without breaking the bank?

A: "I splurged on my dress while my jewelry was all stuff I previously owned as well as my shoes were from 'Nordstrom Rack' (an American outlet store) and like $40! So my advice would be to splurge on what is most important to you (for me, it was my dress but for others it could be shoes or a statement necklace!). In addition, keep in mind what you would like to do with your hair and makeup (professional or not) because that can become expensive." -2011 graduate.

Q: When it comes to Hair and Makeup is bigger and bolder necessarily better- Any tips?

A:  "When it comes to hair, if you're going to try something daring, I would definitely go for a trial run (mostly for up-dos). I wouldn't say a trial run on makeup would be necessary, just make sure at your appointment that you tell the makeup artist a CLEAR vision of what you have and keep checking what you look like throughout the appointment! I have friends who let the artist go to work and then ended up absolutely hating their professional makeup and going home after the appointment to re-do all of it! Be assertive and speak up if you think she's applying too much/too little/the wrong stuff. In saying that, more dramatic makeup looks WAY better in photos. I felt like a complete cake face on grad, probably because I hardly wear any makeup usually, but I loved how my makeup showed up in photos! on the dramatic note, I have two words to say - DO IT! grad is the one time you can pull off being a little out of character and doing something fabulous!"- 2011 graduate

Q: What should I do about a grad date- who makes a good one and what is expected of being a date?

A:  "I think the ideal date, if you do not have a significant other, is a best friend! If you can go with a best friend then it's no pressure, you're just there to have fun together and you're with all your friends anyway, so a date doesn't even matter! Also, if you DO have a date and you do want a corsage - you should mention it. OH and if your date (boyfriend, guy friend, anyone) is from a different school, get him to wear a jacket/blazer/suit jacket of sorts so he doesn't feel left out from all the graduating boys who have jackets!"-2011 graduate.

Last Words of Wisdom...

"Just make it the time of your life!! nothing, and I mean nothing, should get in the way of you having a good time on grad night. no girl you hate, no fall on the ceremony stage, no bad hair appointment, no anything should ruin this night for you! it only happens once and it should be everything you dreamed of and more! if crisis does strike, avert and move on! it won't be worth the bad grad memory."

Grad Dresses...

Tips Before Hand...

1) When trying on different gowns wear a strapless nude bra- it's difficult for you to imagine when you have bright pink straps popping out!
2) Wear your booty shorts underneath- it can be helpful to know whether your dress is too short for your comfort!
3) Bring heels- these can be what make the dress! Those extra inches can change your entire perspective on the dress! They also make your legs extra long and sexy.
4)Practice the hairstyles and makeup you want before the actual day.
5) To avoid wearing the same dress as your classmate some stores will take your name and school (if you ask) making sure they don't sell the same one to anyone but you from your school!
6) Budget- Make a limit and stay within it! There are so many ways to save on the gown from ordering online to vintage stores, making it yourself and even from borrowing from a family member.
7) Bring a parent or your friend- not your entire posse! Too many chefs in the kitchen and in the end its your decision not theirs.
8) Majority of the time the gowns you would never think of wearing end up being the ones you fall in love with so take a risk in the changing room!
**Majority of dresses shown can be found in Calgary- feel free to contact me for any info.**

*If the same dress fiasco happens- follow the grace like attitude of these two ladies and make the best of it!
