Planning Your Dream Grad...

Having questions about graduation? Well look no further readers! With the help from past graduates we've created a post that will hopefully cover any concerns you might have.

Q: I'm saving my money for my plans for next year- How can I still have my perfect grad outfit without breaking the bank?

A: "I splurged on my dress while my jewelry was all stuff I previously owned as well as my shoes were from 'Nordstrom Rack' (an American outlet store) and like $40! So my advice would be to splurge on what is most important to you (for me, it was my dress but for others it could be shoes or a statement necklace!). In addition, keep in mind what you would like to do with your hair and makeup (professional or not) because that can become expensive." -2011 graduate.

Q: When it comes to Hair and Makeup is bigger and bolder necessarily better- Any tips?

A:  "When it comes to hair, if you're going to try something daring, I would definitely go for a trial run (mostly for up-dos). I wouldn't say a trial run on makeup would be necessary, just make sure at your appointment that you tell the makeup artist a CLEAR vision of what you have and keep checking what you look like throughout the appointment! I have friends who let the artist go to work and then ended up absolutely hating their professional makeup and going home after the appointment to re-do all of it! Be assertive and speak up if you think she's applying too much/too little/the wrong stuff. In saying that, more dramatic makeup looks WAY better in photos. I felt like a complete cake face on grad, probably because I hardly wear any makeup usually, but I loved how my makeup showed up in photos! on the dramatic note, I have two words to say - DO IT! grad is the one time you can pull off being a little out of character and doing something fabulous!"- 2011 graduate

Q: What should I do about a grad date- who makes a good one and what is expected of being a date?

A:  "I think the ideal date, if you do not have a significant other, is a best friend! If you can go with a best friend then it's no pressure, you're just there to have fun together and you're with all your friends anyway, so a date doesn't even matter! Also, if you DO have a date and you do want a corsage - you should mention it. OH and if your date (boyfriend, guy friend, anyone) is from a different school, get him to wear a jacket/blazer/suit jacket of sorts so he doesn't feel left out from all the graduating boys who have jackets!"-2011 graduate.

Last Words of Wisdom...

"Just make it the time of your life!! nothing, and I mean nothing, should get in the way of you having a good time on grad night. no girl you hate, no fall on the ceremony stage, no bad hair appointment, no anything should ruin this night for you! it only happens once and it should be everything you dreamed of and more! if crisis does strike, avert and move on! it won't be worth the bad grad memory."
