On and Off the Runway: An interview with the talented, stunning model Clare McConnell

Look at any of her photos, or watch any of her runway shows and there is no question on what makes  Clare McConnell a fantastic model. This six foot, red headed bombshell has recently taken part in runway shows at the Calgary Stampede and was one of the featured models in the Calgary Herald's 'Hers' Magazine! Let the interview begin!!

Ok, Firstly how did you get into the modeling business? Where you approached and how did you come about it?!

I was scouted a few times, but the reason I went for it was because of one of my Dad's friends. She's a very successful model and she sat down for coffee with me to explain the business. She also recommended me to the agent I'm now with, and I can never thank her enough for it.

Are you apart of an agency? How long have you been with them?

Yes! I'm with Sophia Models International. They're great. I've been with them for about 8 months now and I am so glad I chose to join their team.

What is you favorite part of being a model? Is this something you would like to continue in your future??

I love being able to feel totally glamorous in a shoot or show, and then push the pull door on the way out knowing I'm still the same old me. Really not sure about my future regarding modeling yet though. It'll depend on how steady the work becomes, but I would love go internationally with it if the opportunity ever comes my way.

Who would be your fashion icon?

Agyness Deyn has such a cool, outlandish style, and she's never afraid to be a badass.

Must have item for the summer?

My ukulele!

What is it like behind the scenes of a photo shoot?

They’re hives of creativity, and it's such a cool moment when everyone's vision for the shot comes to life, and it's up to you and the person behind the camera to pull it together. I’m really in to photography myself, so it’s cool to see what the professional world is like, and getting to be the subject, rather than the photographer. What really makes shoots different though is that you get to be imaginative. It’s so much more free than the runway. I’ve only done 4 so far but I’d love to get involved in more of them!

Dream place to travel to for a photo shoot?

I would love to go to Africa. The landscapes there are so dramatic. Agyness Deyn did a shoot in the Namib Desert for Vogue a few months ago. It was the first time I'd ever seen her and since then I can't get enough of her style. The shots are so delicate, but the environment is so harsh, I love it! http://www.fashioneditorials.com/white-mischief-agyness-deyn-uk-vogue-may-2011-tim-walker/04/2011

Secret talent??

I can make a killer crème caramel. My friend got me a blowtorch for my birthday so I’m going to try and pull a Julia Child with some crème brulée soon. So excited.

Enjoy and a big thank you to Clare <3
Keep an eye out for this stunner!

A picture is worth a thousand words, however I believe this quote captures and sums up everything and anything one can say about Catherine's outfits ...

Stay With Me Bright Eyes...

Finally an eye shadow that keeps it's shine all day long! Presenting the "Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow" by Benefit. Last fall I had fallen head over heels for Benefits chic advertising and knew I had to give their products a shot. The beautician had approached me and explained the variety all of the products they carried, from primers to mascaras to foundations and to finally the eye shadow. At the time I had been steering away from eye shadow products due to their common characteristics of loosing their shine throughout the day, flaking and irritating my eyes! Explaining my concerns the beautician gave me a small free sample assuring me that this product would be perfect for me. Skeptical yet excited I tested my sample the very next day, Bam! I was so impressed by the product, not only did it give my eyes the classic "bright eyed look"but due to its cream like texture it was able to hold throughout the entire day without giving me red eyes! Ladies for your Benefit give this product a try! It will not be a let down!

*Apply with brush and add Badgal mascara to get the "bright eyes look"
